Miss Katherine Spicer started her first day at Coldfield Comprehensive School, confident, enthusiastic and very well qualified; that was until she met the eyes of the student hidden in the corner of her classroom. Kat’s final weekend of freedom was about to turn her life upside down and threaten everything she had been working for; how was she to know those mesmerising green eyes would reappear here?

Great lesbian chick lit.

A cross between Notes on a Scandal by Zoe Heller and Sugar Rush by Julie Burchill.

But She Is My Student follows the journey of Miss Katherine Spicer in her first year of teaching at Coldfield Comprehensive School. She is a gorgeous, intelligent young woman hailed as a fantastic teacher whose two best friends have to keep her spirit alive when she is faced with an impossible situation. How was she to know the woman she kissed would turn up in her A-Level History class?

The novel deals with the many issues of sexuality in a gripping, yet funny manner, pulling the reader back into a world of teenage nostalgia and school day memories.

Great lesbian chick lit.

But She Is My Student will make you laugh out loud and have you crying out for the fairytale ending.

A really fantastic lesbian novel that will also appeal to the avid chick lit reader.

While the story it's self was fine, I had a little problem with the writing. The rapidly changing perspective, and the weird rambling digressions, made the book a little hard to fallow. One paragraph could be from a main character's point of view, the next paragraph could start a 2 page side track, describing an issue a minor character was having hiding the evidence, of his appreciation, of his teacher's body.
I also had trouble with all the British school system jargon. I figured out a year 13 student, was equivalent to our 12th grade, but that was about it.
Some of the characters were over the top, to the point of being unbelievable. From the school pricipal(at least I think she was the equivalent of a principal), who encouraged a teacher to chase a school girl, to the creepy parents that dragged their daughter out of the closet. They were a bit much for me to take
All in all though, I will probably pick up the sequal.

But She Is My Student edition by Kiki Archer Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

It's catchy from the first word, and keeps you turning pages to find out when, if, how ..... many a school dreams
Sometimes it would roll from one point of view to the next persons & leave the me lost as to who's eyes I was new seeing thru. But it was enjoyable. I'd recommend it to my friends.
I loved But She is my Student. It reminds me how difficult being a teenager is. Beautiful dialogue and a great plot.
Kiki Archer is one of my favorite Arthur's. This a fabulous book. I absolutely love Kat & Freya. You have to read the second book "Instigation" It's about Kat and Freya relationship. & they also make an appearance in "When you know" the second book to "One foot in the snow".
Can't wait to read her new books when they become available.
First Kiki Archer book I read. I've read this one a few times since. (But only just a few times. Maybe.) It's a great teacher/student story about falling in love, yet playing by the rules.

Kiki masterfully hooks this reader into the story and kept me enthralled. Great angst and sorrow throughout, then a wonderful reveal, then another angry part, but it all works out in the end. Sexy bits done tastefully. But it is worth reading to get to there.

Fine stand alone. Or read the sequel to learn more about the characters.
Normally after purchasing a book, I read it way more than one time. In the time that I've owned this book after purchasing it here on , I've only read it once. Being a lesbian, I'm always looking for books with LGBT characters and it's really hard to find decent ones. I can't say this book was terrible, but it wasn't the best. It progressed a little slowly and was kind of predictable. The characters weren't developed as well as they could've been and the ending of the book just really made me upset. It could've been so much better.
This was my first girl x girl realtionship book. It was also a student-teacher romance so I was really anticipating to read this. In my opinion, to say it is a student-teacher romance isn't really true because there wasn't any realtionship while they were in school, they only avoided each other and tried to supress their feelings until the end when Freya finished school and they conffessed their feelings to each other.
This book was an okay read because there were a few things which ruined my enjoyment of the book. One of them was the writing style. there were some parts which, in my opinion, were taken from some third degree soap opera show. In those parts I could see an invisible title that told me "this is the part where you are supposed to cry" or "this is an emotional part, your heart supposed to swoon right now". The other thing is how the bad characters were portrayed like typical bad characters ugly looking, always looking how to ruin the main hero's day, always going for some stupid plan to ruin their career and good name etc. The third thing is what I mentioned above about the non existent student-teacher romance which is a theme that I really like and was a little dissapionted when I discovered this wasn't really a theme in the book only the morality of starting a realthionship like this.
In the end, I will recommended this book beacause overoll it was very interesting read.
